The root cause of all your struggles
The reason why you keep getting stuck and you keep coming across the same problems and patterns in life is because there’s something going on in your psychology that you can’t see. We might call it a blind spot…
Each of us have what I call a ‘core program’ which is almost always operating in the background of our awareness. This is where almost all of our problems and struggles in life come from.
Be it anxiety, low mood, stress, burn out, relationship struggles, or whatever, they are all created by the mind, specifically what I call core programmes.
These core programmes are why you feel stuck, unfulfilled, anxious, unlikeable, shy, and held back. It’s not life getting in your way, it’s you. But it’s not really you, it’s your programming.
Why we stay stuck
Because this programme is always running, and because it’s been running for so long, you don’t even know it’s there. But you see the impacts of it in your life – in your work, in your relationships, and anytime you feel triggered, or any time you wonder why things aren’t working for you.
If you’re unlucky, you actually might have a few of these programmes running, (in my case, I had 4 running!). These programmes create all the symptoms that most people would seek support for.
So for example you might go to a therapist because you’re feeling burnt out, and they might help you by giving you some tools and techniques, or by telling you to slow down. But what they don’t do, is help you get to the root cause of why you’re burnt out. And here’s what most therapists, counsellors, coaches and ‘healers’ miss…
The burnout is a symptom.
You’re burnt out because you never say no to anyone, because you’re scared of upsetting people, and so you end up exhausted, and resentful, wishing you could feel ok with putting your own needs first some times.
Or maybe you speak to a counsellor about anxiety and how much you worry, so the counsellor tells you to journal, or use a worry tree, or tells you that instead of predicting the worse things happening, try imagining some good things might happen. But what they don’t do is get to the root cause of why you’re worrying and anxious in the first place. In other words,
Worry and anxiety is a symptom
Worry and anxiety is a symptom of believing that you’re not going to cope with your imagined future, that you’re in some way not going to be ok. Not to mention the way that you view all the physical effects of anxiety that ends up creating more anxiety for you and reinforcing the anxiety itself, just by the way you’re seeing it. As far as you’re concerned, you’re living in a world where something bad is going to happen, so it makes perfect sense to feel scared. But this is really hard to see because it’s unconscious. This is why none of the tools and techniques you’ve tried have worked. Because no one’s ever got to the root of it for you.
My work is about getting to the root, which is essentially uncovering what your core programme is, and what symptoms and ‘mess’ that programme creates for us in life.
I would assert that any time you’re getting stuck in life, or you keep coming up against the same struggles, it’s because you have beliefs/programmes running that are getting in your way. Beliefs that you can’t see.
Because of the way our mind works, we then without knowing it, unconsciously reinforce our programmes, and ways of seeing through our habits and patterns. In other words, there’s things you’ve been doing and not doing that feed your limiting beliefs, or programme.
Isn’t it ironic… don’t you think?
What’s ironic is that we all want to be free of our ‘baggage’ and programming, and at times, we are. We occasionally might follow our freewill which is in the form of inspiration, excitement, or following our wants and desires.
But then the program or the symptoms of the programming get us stuck again. The anxious program says “but what if this doesn’t work”, or “this feels new and scary”, and so the very anxiety that you want fixing, gets in the way of your breaking free.
Or anxiety might say “well it’s probably not going to work anyway, so why would I risk wasting my time, energy and money?” But then that’s the lens of anxiety again. You’re literally looking at the possibility of it working, but through the lens of your anxious beliefs. So then from that limiting perspective, why would you go ahead? It wouldn’t make sense, because as far as your concerned it’s not going work out. But you’re not seeing the possibility and potential of your life changing. In your limited perspective, you fail to see the hope. Because we don’t see what’s truly possible, we see what we think is possible.
Say you contact me or someone else to help with burn out, but then the burnout itself gets in the way of us going ahead in our work, because you’re so exhausted and overwhelmed. It’s ironic, but the very thing that you want help with, gets in the way of the help! Funny how our psychology works.
No tools or strategies needed – The reason I don’t prescribe tools and techniques to help people cope with symptoms, is because you don’t need to manage a problem when you can just take away the root cause.
Finding mental and emotional freedom
Once you uncover your programme, you can usually see through it quite quickly and that’s where the freedom of mind is.
Your triggers will show you where you’re not free and what your programming is.
It’s very easy to slip back into old ways though because you’re so used to operating from this place of limitation. Because it’s so familiar for you to feel stuck, anxious, or stressed, you keep coming back to it. Your nervous system, emotions and even your posture align with your programming and so it’s easy to drift right back into it.
But you don’t need to, you can be totally and completely free every moment you let go of your mind-made programming and drop into the freedom that is always there. The trick is learning who you really are at your core, versus your programming. When you really get this, it opens up a whole doorway to freedom, inner peace, a feeling of aliveness, presence, and fulfilment. Knowing what you’re doing and where you’re heading in life.
There’s a place inside of you that knows the answer to all every struggle you have. Every single human being is able to access a state of pure peace, calm, contentment and inner knowing. I call that place, A Clear Mind.
It’s beneath the noise of your busy mind. Under the worry, the believing you’re not enough, the overthinking and the distractions of life. The more you drop into this inner state, the more you get to know it, the better your life becomes. My work is about helping you find that place in yourself.
I hope that helps you see some of what might be getting in your way and what’s possible when you see through your thoughts to your innate freedom. Remember, we don’t see what’s truly possible, we see what we think is possible.
