Think More Clearly. Perform at Your Best. Create Meaningful Change.
If you’re functioning well but feel stuck, overwhelmed, lacking direction or know you’re capable of more, coaching can help you understand what is getting in the way and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
I’m Chris Finn, a psychotherapist by background and life coach with more than 20 years’ experience in psychology, wellbeing and human performance.
I work primarily with thoughtful professionals who want to overcome mental blocks, reduce overthinking, improve confidence and resilience, and perform at their best without sacrificing their wellbeing.
Coaching is available in person in Ferndown, Dorset and online across the UK.
Who I Work With
I work mainly with professionals who are functioning well but feel they are being held back by the way they think, respond or make decisions.
You might be successful on paper but find yourself overthinking, second-guessing decisions, struggling with confidence, feeling stuck in your career or putting yourself under more pressure than is helpful.
Coaching is not about fixing something that is “wrong” with you. It is about understanding what is getting in the way, seeing your situation more clearly and making purposeful changes.
What Life Coaching Can Help With
Overthinking & Decision-Making
If you spend too much time analysing options, anticipating problems or questioning your decisions, coaching can help you step out of unproductive thinking and make clearer, more confident choices.
Confidence & Self-Belief
You may know intellectually that you are capable while still doubting yourself when it matters. We can work on the thinking patterns, assumptions and habits that undermine confidence and help you respond differently.
Performance Under Pressure
Pressure can sharpen performance, but too much internal pressure often has the opposite effect. Coaching can help you perform more consistently without relying on stress, perfectionism or constant self-criticism.
Career Direction & Change
If you have reached a point where your work no longer feels right, or you know you want something different but cannot see the way forward, coaching can help you clarify what matters and make better decisions about what comes next.
Resilience & Wellbeing
High performance is difficult to sustain when it comes at the expense of your wellbeing. We can work on creating a healthier relationship with pressure, achievement and recovery so that success feels more sustainable.
Getting Unstuck
Sometimes there is no obvious crisis — you simply know that something needs to change. Coaching can help you understand why you feel stuck, identify what is keeping you there and move forward with greater clarity.
How My Coaching Works
My approach combines psychology, coaching and practical behaviour change. The aim is not simply to give you advice, but to help you understand what is actually getting in the way and make changes that last.
We start by getting clear about what you want to change and why it matters. From there, we look at the patterns of thinking, behaviour and decision-making that may be keeping you stuck.
That could mean noticing how overthinking creates indecision, how perfectionism leads to procrastination, how fear of failure changes the choices you make, or how constant internal pressure gradually undermines performance.
Once we understand the pattern, we work on changing it.
Clarity Before Strategy
People often try to solve the wrong problem. Before setting goals or creating action plans, we make sure we understand what is really happening.
That clarity usually makes the next steps much easier to see.
Practical, Not Formulaic
I do not use a rigid coaching programme or assume that everyone needs the same techniques.
Our work is shaped around your goals, personality, circumstances and the particular patterns that are getting in your way.
Psychology With a Purpose
My background in psychology and psychotherapy means I can draw on evidence-based approaches including CBT, behavioural psychology and mindfulness where they are useful.
But coaching remains focused on helping you move forward, make better decisions and create meaningful change in your work or life.
Change That Transfers Into Real Life
Insight matters, but it is only useful if something changes outside the coaching session.
We will identify practical experiments, decisions or actions that help you test new ways of responding and turn what we discuss into real-world change.
"With his extensive background in psychology, Chris was the perfect person for me to work with when it came to unlocking the things that held me back in business and in life. With those things out of the way quickly we are now able to focus on achieving goals and living a happy life as part of our one to one sessions".

What to Expect From Coaching
Coaching starts with getting clear about what you want to change and what would make the work genuinely useful to you.
We’ll agree a focus for our work together and use sessions to understand what is getting in the way, challenge unhelpful patterns and identify practical ways forward.
The work is collaborative and tailored to you. I won’t simply give you generic advice or take you through a fixed programme.
Session Format
Coaching sessions are available in person in Ferndown, Dorset and online.
Most clients work with me for a series of sessions rather than a single one-off conversation, although the exact frequency and duration depends on what you want to achieve.
Fees
Life coaching sessions are £95 for 55 minutes.
Before starting, I offer a free introductory call so we can briefly discuss what you want help with, answer any questions and decide whether working together feels like the right fit.
There is no obligation to book coaching afterwards.

Frequently Asked Questions About Life Coaching
Is Coaching Right for Me?
Coaching may be a good fit if you are functioning reasonably well but feel stuck, lacking direction, overthinking decisions or not performing as consistently as you would like.
It can be particularly useful if you want to make a change but are finding it difficult to see clearly what is getting in the way.
What Is the Difference Between Coaching and Therapy?
Coaching is generally focused on helping you move forward, perform more effectively and make meaningful changes in your work or life.
CBT therapy is more appropriate when psychological difficulties such as anxiety, persistent worry, burnout or the impact of difficult past experiences are causing significant distress or interfering with everyday life.
There can be some overlap. Because I am trained in both psychotherapy and coaching, we can discuss which approach is likely to be most appropriate for what you want help with.
Do I Need to Know Exactly What I Want to Work On?
No.
Some people come to coaching with a very clear goal. Others simply know that something feels stuck or that they want their work or life to feel different.
Part of the coaching process is getting clearer about what you actually want to change.
How Many Coaching Sessions Will I Need?
There is no fixed number.
Some people benefit from a relatively short piece of focused work, while others choose to work together for longer as their goals develop.
We will review progress regularly so that there is always a clear purpose to continuing.
Can Coaching Be Done Online?
Yes. I offer online life coaching as well as face-to-face sessions in Ferndown, Dorset.
Online coaching can work particularly well for professionals who travel regularly, have busy schedules or live outside Dorset.
Ready to Move Forward?
If you feel stuck, are overthinking your next move or know you are capable of more, a short conversation is often the easiest place to start.
